The collection includes scripts, correspondence, treatments, drafts, notes, minutes, photographs, reviews, posters, financial statements, clippings, reports, newsletters, leaflets, cassettes and video, tapes concerning many Australian theatrical works, including Gillies' own work, "The Gillies report", and such other works as the musical version of Manning Clark's "A history of Australia", Alma De Groen's "Vocations", Jack Hibberd's " A stretch of the imagination", Dorothy Hewett's "Bon-bons and roses for Dolly", Don Watson's "Hawke remembers", etc. Correspondents include Bill Garner, Stephen Sewell, John Bryson, Jack Hibberd. The collection also includes material related to the history of the Australian Performing Group, and board papers concerning the Australian Film Institute, 1988-1992.
